Upon joining the airline as Safety and Compliance Manager (Flight Ops), I took charge of the SMS and some of the Level 1 findings. With the team, we updated most of the manuals and performed thorough internal audits to identify gaps in the procedures, training and consistency across the Flight Ops department. Within 3 months, we restored a stable system and passed the CAA audit with flying colours!
Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, I changed the way the organisation approached safety. By defining Safety Indicators and rolling out a new safety management system, I documented all key processes and policies, defined roles & accountabilities and trained competent personnel within the Flight Ops department.
